TRACK & FIELD: American Women roll at Stockholm Diamond League

Less than one week removed from a 29-medal performance at the London Olympic Games, American track and field athletes traveled to Stockholm as the Samsung Diamond League continued Friday.

Reigning Olympic gold medalists Sanya Richards-Ross in the 400m and 4x400m, bested a women’s 400m field that included the top five athletes in the world in2012. Richards-Ross, who also won the World Indoor title in March, chased down 2011 World Outdoor champion Amantle Montsho of Botswana to win the race in 49.89.

The Olympic silver medalist in the 100m hurdles, Harper won in a time of 12.65 and Charonda Williams (women’s 200m) won in 22.82.

Team USA also picked up second place finishes from Bianca Knight in the women’s 200m (22.86), Kellie Wells in the women’s 100m hurdles (12.76) and Natasha Hastings in the women’s 400m (52.20). Grabbing a third place finish was Janay DeLoach in the women’s long jump (6.69m/21-11.
