South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley achieved the highest honor of her career tonight as she joined basketball luminaries with her enshrinement into the Naismith Memorial

Legendary point guard Dawn Staley was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

On Sunday, dozens of friends, co-workers and family members gathered to see Dawn Staley named among the best of the best.  “Every experience in my life has been purposeful and every person a teacher. I will take this as my final victory as a player,” Staley said at Sunday’s ceremony.

Staley was honored with Sylvia Hatchell, Rick Pitino, who led Louisville to a national title in April, Gary Payton, a nine- time NBA All-Star, Jerry Tarkanian, Guy Lewis, Bernard King, Roger Brown, Dr. E.B. Henderson, Oscar Schmidt, Russ Granik and Richard Guerin.
