WNBA: Hall-of-Famer Anne Donovan Heading to Connecticut Sun

Seton Hall Women’s Basketball Head coach Anne Donovan is headed back to the WNBA.  “This is a perfect fit as I see it.”  Donovan said when asked about her decision to return to the WNBA.  Donovan, whose last stint as a WNBA head coach was with the NY Liberty, will head up a Sun team that has been on the brink of a championship, but so far have been unable to reach that pinnacle.  With a solid roster that include the reigning WNBA MVP Tina Charles, Renee Montgomery, Allison Hightower and Kara Lawson, adding Doonovan, an Olympic/championship caliber coach, and the Sun have positioned themselves at making another championship run.

Donovan’s WNBA coaching resume includes a championship with the Seattle Storm in 2004, an appearance in the Finals with the Charlotte Sting in 2001 and a total of seven playoff berths with three teams over 10 years. She has an overall regular season record of 167-150 (.527).

Donovan, currently in her third season with the Pirates, will complete the 2012-13 season before departing for the Sun.
