WNBA: Elena Della Donne traded to Washington Mystics

The Chicago Sky have traded 2015 WNBA MVP to the Washington Mystics for All-Star center Stefanie Dolson, Kahleah Copper, last year’s No. 7 overall pick, and the Mystics’ first-round pick in this year’s draft, the No. 2 overall selection.  The Sky’s owner, Michael Alter, confirmed the Delle Donne trade to the New York Times.

It had been reported that Della Donne the 27-year old Olympic gold medalist was unhappy, even going as far as saying that she was willing to sit out the 2017 season.  The trade to the Mystics brings her closer to her family in her hometown of Wilmington, Del.

The Sky and Mystics play each other in a home & home games in May.  On the 24th, Washington travel to Chicago, then Chicago will visit the Mystics on the 26th.
