Serena Williams set to return in Abu Dhabi

Twenty-three time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams will be returning to the tennis court for the first time in 11-months in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship this upcoming Saturday, tournament organizers announced Sunday.

“I am delighted to be returning to the court in Abu Dhabi for the first time since the birth of my daughter in September,” the 36-year-old Williams said in a statement.

Williams, who has not played competitive tennis since the 2017 Australian Open, gave birth to her first child, Alexis Ohanian Jr., and married fiance, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in November.

Williams will face defending French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in an exhibition match.
