MMA: Meisha Tate defeats Holly Holm

Miesha Tate defeat Holly Holm in the 5th round via submission to become the new UFC bantamweight champion.

Tate pulled off the shocking upset when she held on to a rear-naked choke with all her might, clamping down until Holm lost consciousness to become the new women’s bantamweight champion.

“I knew I had to be patient and fight the perfect moment against a very calculated fighter,” Tate (18-5) said.

UFC President Dana White had this to say:  “I think that Ronda now will fight Miesha Tate for the title. That’s what’s going to happen,” White said. “That’s what I said before this fight even happened. Whoever wins tonight will fight Ronda for the title.”
