National Champs! Irish women’s soccer team wins it all

Freshman Adriana Leon scored 11 minutes into the 2nd half as Notre Dame upset previously undefeated Stanford 1-0 to capture women’s soccer’s national championship.

CARY, N.C. – The No. 7/10 Notre Dame women’s soccer team (21-2-0) knocked off No. 1/1 Stanford (23-1-2) in the title game of the NCAA Championship to capture its third national championship. Freshman forward Adriana Leon scored the gamewinner with 27:53 left in regulation as she knocked home a feed from junior teammate Melissa Henderson from 12 yards out.
