Girls’ Super 25: St. Mary’s still No. 1 as Bolingbrook (Ill.) moves to No. 8

Rankings are done in consultation with various coaches and media and compiled by USA TODAY’s Jim Halley.

Schools are ranked based on a team’s strength of schedule and quality of players. Next rankings: March 17.

1. St. Mary’s, Stockton, Calif. (29-1)

Previous: 1. Results: Defeated Vanden (Fairfield) 78-39 in Sac-Joaquin Section Division III semifinals as Afure Jemerigbe had 20 points, six rebounds, five steals, four assists and three blocks. Defeated Sacramento 75-45 in section final as Alle Moreno had 18 points. Next: Thursday vs. Miramonte (Orinda)-Enterprise winner in Northern California Division 3 second-round game.

2. Ben Davis, Indianapolis (28-0)

Previous: 2. Result: Defeated Merrillville 99-52 for state 4A title in Fort Wayne as Bria Goss scored 22. The Giants have won a state-record 58 in a row. Next: Season complete.

3. Brea Olinda, Brea, Calif. (29-2)

Previous: 3. Result: Kelsey Harris had 23 points, five assists and two steals in a 63-38 defeat of Villa Park in 2AA section final in Long Beach. Next: Thursday vs. Diamond Ranch (Pomona)-Westview (San Diego) winner in CIF Southern California second-round Division 2 playoff.

4. Mater Dei, Santa Ana, Calif. (28-1)

Previous: 4. Result: Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis had 22 points and seven rebounds in 71-29 defeat of Woodbridge (Irvine) in 2A Southern Section final in Long Beach. Next: Thursday vs. El Camino (Sacramento)-Villa Park winner in second round of Southern California Division 2 playoffs.

5. Long Beach Poly, Long Beach (27-2)

Previous: 5. Result: Brittany Wilson had 14 points in a 58-38 defeat of Santiago (Corona) in 1AA Southern Section final in Long Beach. Played Tuesday vs. Washington Prep (Los Angeles). Next: With win, Thursday vs. Carson-Stockdale (Bakersfield) winner.

6. Redan, Stone Mountain, Ga. (30-0)

Previous: 6. Results: Defeated Lowndes (Valdosta) 72-53 in 5A second-round game. Aneesah Daniels had 18 points in a 71-50 5A quarterfinals defeat of Bradwell Institute (Hinesville). Next: Thursday vs. Milton (Alpharetta) in 5A semifinals.

7. Murry Bergtraum, New York (25-0)

Previous: 7. Results: Cori Coleman had 17 points in a 57-42 defeat of South Shore (Brooklyn) in PSAL AA semifinals. Defeated Kennedy (Bronx) 58-37 in PSAL AA final at Madison Square Garden as Doris Ortega had 19 points. Next: March 27 in New York State Federation Class AA tournament.

8. Bolingbrook, Ill. (29-1)

Previous: 11. Results: Defeated Hersey 56-30 in 4A semifinals as Morgan Tuck had 28 points. Defeated then-No. 8 Whitney Young (Chicago) 60-50 for second consecutive 4A state title as Ariel Massengale had 18 points. Next: Season complete.

9. Cy-Fair, Cypress, Texas (36-1)

Previous: 14. Results: Defeated No. 19 Cedar Hill 54-50 in state 5A semifinals in Austin as Chiney Ogwumike had 24 points and 25 rebounds. Ogwumike had 31 points and 18 rebounds in a 65-41 defeat of Hightower (Missouri City) for 5A title. Next: Season complete.

10. Mount Lebanon, Pittsburgh (24-2)

Previous: 9. Results: Madison Cable had 21 points in a 61-34 defeat of Peters Township (McMurray) in Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League semifinals. Cable had 21 points in 59-43 win vs. Baldwin (Pittsburgh) in WPIAL final. Next: Friday vs. Holidaysburg-Fox Chapel (Pittsburgh) winner in state 4A first round.

11. Whitney Young, Chicago (28-3)

Previous: 8. Results: Defeated Fenwick (Oak Park) 54-38 in state 4A semifinals in Normal as Kiana Johnson had 13 points and Alexis Lloyd 10 points and eight rebounds. Lost 60-50 to then-No. 11 Bolingbrook in 4A title game. Next: Season complete.

12. Incarnate Word, St. Louis (28-1)

Previous: 10. Results: Defeated Parkway South (Ballwin) 62-28 in Class 5 sectionals as Brittany Carter had 12 points, all in the first half. Jazmin Hitchens had 27 points in a 67-33 sectional quarterfinals defeat of Poplar Bluff. Next: Thursday vs. Fort Zumwalt West (O’Fallon) in state Class 5 semifinals.

13. Shabazz, Newark (29-1)

Previous: 12. Results: Alyesha Lovett had 21 points in a 65-35 defeat of A.L. Johnson (Clark) in Central Jersey, Group 2 playoff. Lovett had 20 points in a 51-45 defeat of Rumson (Fair Haven). Defeated Delaware Valley (Frenchtown) 65-39 in Central Jersey Group 2 semifinals as Aliyyah Handford had 20 points, seven rebounds, six steals and three blocks. Handford had 22 points in a 64-37 defeat of Summit in Group 2 final. Next: Today vs. Haddonfield in Group 2 state semifinals.

14. Neptune, N.J. (24-1)

Previous: 13. Results: Syessence Davis had 18 points and Sehmonyeh Allen 17 in 83-42 defeat of Princeton in Central Group 3 quarterfinal. Morgan Thompson had 18 points in a 74-31 defeat of West Windsor North (Plainsboro) in semifinals. Played Middletown South (Middletown) on Tuesday in final. 15. Hoover, Ala. (32-1)

16. Potters House Christian, Jacksonville (32-4)

Previous: 17. Result: Defeated Hamilton Heights Christian (Chattanooga, Tenn.) 95-21 in National Association of Christian Athletes tournament in Dayton, Tenn., as Antoinette Bannister had 35 points. Defeated Mount Airy (Md.) Christian 82-23 in NACA tournament as Bannister had 32 points. Brittany Rountree had 22 points in a 72-51 defeat of West Oaks (Orlando) in NACA tournament. Defeated Veritas Christian (Fletcher, N.C.) 81-35 in NACA tournament as Bannister had 34 points. Bannister was tournament MVP and Rountree, Loliya Briggs, Hillary Fuller and Alexis Brown also were all-tournament. 17. Detroit Country Day, Beverly Hills, Mich. (20-0)

Previous: 21. Results: Johanna Paine and Brittany Knighton each had 18 points in a 68-55 defeat of Westview (Portland) in 6A state playoffs. Defeated Barlow (Gresham) 50-28 in 6A semifinals as Taylor Ward had 18 points. Next: Today vs. McNary (Keizer) in state tournament.

20. Auburn (Wash.) Riverside (29-0)

Previous: 22. Results: Kat Cooper had 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 51-39 defeat of Woodway (Edmonds) in 4A state tournament. Mercedes Wetmore had 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 57-45 defeat of Chiawana (Pasco) in 4A quarterfinals. Defeated Issaquah 58-40 in semifinals as Wetmore had 17 points. Cooper had 20 points and Wetmore 17 in a 56-52 overtime win vs. Mead (Spokane) for state title. Next: Season complete.

21. Princess Anne, Virginia Beach (28-1)

Previous: 23. Result: Elizabeth Williams had 18 points, 17 rebounds and 11 blocks in a 57-42 defeat of Thomas Dale (Chester) in state 3A quarterfinals in Williamsburg. Next: Wednesday vs. Oakton (Vienna) in state semifinals.

22. Midwest City, Okla. (23-2)

Previous: 24. Result: Ashley Clark had 16 points in a 59-46 win vs. Norman in 6A area game. Next: Thursday vs. Union (Tulsa) in state 6A quarterfinals.

23. Lake Taylor, Norfolk, Va. (28-1)

Previous: 25. Result: Linda Stepney had 28 points in a 65-57 defeat of Cosby (Midlothian) in 3A state quarterfinals in Richmond. Next: Wednesday vs. West Springfield (Springfield) in state semifinals.

24. Memphis Central, Memphis (25-3)

Previous: not ranked. Results: Defeated Overton 58-51 for 3A Region 8 title as Danielle Ballard had 14 points and Aaliyah Whiteside 13. Defeated Jackson Northside 59-56 in 3A Division 1 sectional as Ballard had 22 points. Next: Thursday vs. Clarksville in first round of 3A state tournament.

25. Cedar Hill, Texas (27-7)
