Atlantic City, New Jersey ~ To say that Clareesa Shields dominated Christina Hammer en route to a unanimous decision would be an understatement. Shields, a two-time Olympian, and holder of the WBA, WBC and IBF titles, showed off her superior power and boxing skills as she outboxed the experienced WBO champion Hammer to become the undisputed middleweight champion. She now holds all four major titles. “I am the greatest woman of all time. Shields said after her historic win. “I did it. She didn’t win a round.”
Hammer did, in fact, win two rounds, the first and sixth rounds according to the judge’s scorecard. But Shields negated that with arguably her best performance as a pro.
Hammer, who never seemed to find her way during the fight, explained why in the aftermath. “She’s fast, she comes forward. She has fast hands. I couldn’t land my jab as good as I expected.”
